The Panda Project Website Development

I have now started to develop designs for The Panda Project website following the research that I have gathered and discussions with Emma. The website needs to consist of 5-6 main pages which run through in an order.

The website uses an overall bold and engaging aesthetic as this is needed in keeping the user interested and excited to contribute towards the Panda Project. The colour palette is used throughout each page with use of bold typography and relevant imagery and information about the organisation that the user will need.

1. Launch page: must be eye-catching and engaging as it needs to encourage the user to find out more about The Panda Project through the next pages. Include the name, logo and slogan

Slogan ideas:
  • The mission to create a positive future for the giant panda
  • Together we can share the love for pandas and keep them safe
  • Together we can provide a positive future for the giant panda
  • Together we can create a positive future for the giant panda
  • The mission to create a hopeful future for the giant panda

Chosen slogan: Together we can create a positive future for the giant panda. Peer feedback suggested that this one was best as the 'together' includes the user and makes it more personal.

2. An introduction/our mission page: Comes straight after the launch page, it provides an introduction to The Panda Project and why we do what we do and why as humans have a role to help the giant panda. Includes a brief description about pandas going from endangered to vulnerable in 2016 which was announced by the International Union Conservation of Nature.

This page lastly includes a link on how to get involved in helping which takes you to page 3.

3. The Panda Pack: Tells you what comes in the panda pack, a publication, an exclusive t-shirt and stickers/badges, includes images of each product. Provides brief description of what the publication consists of; further information on how to help the pandas, their journey from being an animal that was once safe, to endangered to vulnerable and how we can make them safe again and why we need to.

All of this costs just £15- mentions that this helps the pandas wellbeing as the proceeds to go the Chengdu Research of Giant Panda Breeding and WWF. Link to the page that lets the user order their panda pack.

4. Order page: Your panda pack, several payment options, delivery information etc.

5. Thank you page: This page was felt needed as it tells the user that we are grateful for their contribution towards helping keep the panda'a safe. Also includes links that let them share the news on Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter that they have just brought their own panda pack- grows audience and encourages more people to get involved.

Moving forward, I will also create a contact page as most professional companies provide this if people they have any further questions. Once Emma has started to create prints, I will start to add them into the website designs which I think will look great alongside the information and bold titles.
