I have now started to come up with some initial ideas of how the aims of this project and research could be communicated successfully through the designs created.
As mentioned in previous blog posts, the aim for this project is to raise awareness that Pandas are still vulnerable and the importance of not letting them get back on the endangered animals list and how we can do this. Ways in which this can be achieved which this project will focus on is through providing more funding for the Panda breeding centres in China, get more people to adopt/sponsor Pandas and through raising money for Panda charities.
The initial idea was to create a publication which communicates the importance of Pandas in the world today through focusing on the most important factors which will have an impact on people and encourage them to help.
This project is a collaboration with printed textiles student Emma, a discussion with her a couple of months ago about ideas for the publication included printed fabrics throughout the book, textile techniques relating to Pandas, textured pages and appropriate paper stocks for a hardback cover.
My initial ideas also include wearable outcomes alongside the publication and other promotional material. This could include tote bags, t-shirts, stickers, acrylic key rings etc, wearable items spread awareness most effectively and efficiently and grows the audience which is extremely important for this topic.
Initial idea sketches:
Next week I will have another discussion with Emma about these initial ideas and how the prints could be included on the different outcomes and what they could contain. I will continue researching which will inform these ideas.
