Animal Campaign Branding Research

I have started to gather some further research on animal campaign research which use strong visual language and design in order to communicate their message and catch the audiences eye, an intriguing and eye-catching aesthetic is extremely important in raising awareness for an animal campaign. I looked at 3 different projects for this research which focus on branding, logos, colour and design for print techniques.

The first project that I found interesting was a collection of endangered animal logos which were designed by 4 different European designers: Bodea Daniel, Cajvanean Alexandru, Petar Shalamanov and Martigny Matthieu. These logo designs focus on a range of different styles which include the golden ratio, negative space, line drawing. Each of the logos is accompanied by a caption about the endangered animal that it represents.

Below shows two of my favourite logos out of the collection. I loved the bold, yet minimal aesthetic that all the logos use as it makes the design memorable which is important as it tackles animal endangerment; a serious issue in todays society that needs to be addressed more.

Animal Garden is an Apulian pet shop which offers the classic grooming service for dogs and a new addition which is a playroom that people can leave their dogs in for a few hours. The new corporate branding for Animal Garden offers a more modern vision, starting from the logo and vibrant colour palette through to patterns they use on the store walls and merchandise. The branding also includes posters, stationary, packaging and social advertising; merchandise and physical branding are really important for my Panda project and spreading awareness about it.

The most successful part of the new branding is definitely the new colour palette as it's vibrant and contemporary aesthetic invites people to the store and makes people feel that their dogs will be safe in this happy environment.

A project which I found visually most beautiful were the animal papercut's by artist Patrick Cabral @darkgravity which aims to raise awareness about endangered pieces. The project is in collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature and Acts of Kindness in 50% of the sales go to WWF. The delicate and extremely detailed design of these papercut's communicates the importance of these threatened animals and how we must protect them.

Cabral shares his work on social media to increase public awareness of conservation issues. “My art can help educate the younger generation about the plight of these species".
