I have now started to develop the content pages for the panda publication forward which comes within The Panda Pack. I developed the pages through my research into publication design and animal campaign/branding research. As mentioned in pervious blog posts, the overall publication and branding for The Panda Project follows a bold and contemporary aesthetic as this is more engaging for the user, which is important for a topic like this which focuses on raising awareness and providing more money for the safety of giant pandas.
Each page follows a different, bold layout which focuses on experimentation between block colours, shapes, symbols and photographs where relevant. The photographs that I used were from the WWF and Chengdu Research of Giant Panda Breeding websites as these are the charities that the money goes to.
The typeface used for the block text is Quicksand, the branding also follows a cutesy aesthetic which represents pandas, Quicksand has a similar cute and minimal feel to it which makes it appropriate. A sans serif typeface like this is also more engaging and easier to read. The block text is combined with chunky titles and background headings using the main typeface 'Mono 45' in order to make the pages eye-catching and create a contrast with the block text.
The publication will be developed further when Emma finishes more of the prints which I will then be able to add in, the front cover and back pages of the publication still need finishing which will also use the prints.
