This afternoon I met up with Nikita in which we discussed what we wanted to collaborate on, last term we planned to meet up and start the collaboration in January (now). Nikita is a photography student at this university.
For Nikita I will be designing her personal branding which must includ a logo and business cards as the minimum. I mentioned that I would enjoy doing more for this in order to make it a more substantial brief, this could include additional packaging that she would send off to agencies and studios that she would want to work for in the future which would contain examples of her work, a proposal and her business card. She mentioned that she finds the idea of sending this off in a box package quite interesting, it would contain 8-10 prints of her work or a copy of the zine containing her work which she already has designed since last year.
I asked if there was a specific aesthetic or imagery that she'd like me to use within her personal branding that represents her design practice, she mentioned that she wouldn't want it to be too over the top so an overall minimal, sleek and professional aesthetic is the way forward.
Furthermore, she asked if I needed help and work doing for any of my briefs this year, I explained the panda brief to her and mentioned that my plan is to create t-shirts, tote bags and additional merchandise so it'd be great to have some nice photographs of them worn in context. A lot of her work focuses on fashion photography so this is quite suited to her. Nikita also mentioned that she could get some coloured backdrops and props for the shoot as well once I know colour palettes and design details that I will be using.
I will now start to create some sketches and gather some research for her personal branding, Nikita mentioned that she will create some moodoards for her personal branding as well as some examples of fashion campaign photography that would be relevant towards my Panda project.
