Further Branding Decisions

During the discussion today me and Emma agreed that it felt that another colour was needed in the colour palette to make it 6 colours in total as 5 felt slightly too little, an even number of colours also means that the colours would be used equally.

The colour that has been added is blue. Colour psychology shows that the colour blue represents optimism, this is appropriate as this project communicates an optimistic future for pandas if more people start to contribute towards the wellbeing of pandas and their current vulnerability. The chosen shade of blue also works well with alongside the yellow, pink and green. Blue also relates to the fact that pandas have the ability to swim.

Furthermore, the branding for the panda project will consist of two main typefaces: one for titles and headings and one for block text/additional information which will be provided in the publication. The title typeface will also be used within the logotypes. The branding needs to eye-catching and striking so both me and Emma agreed that a blocky typeface for titles and headings would be most appropriate, the research that I gathered of previous animal campaigns and branding also use bold typography in order to catch the eye and therefore grow an audience.

Below shows a few different typefaces that I tried out when deciding on which to use for titles and headings (the main typeface). The fonts I researched and tried out include ADAM CG PRO, Gitan, Roboto, Dosis and more.

Font decisions/trials

The typeface that I decided on is Mono45 which was designed by Fabian Leuenberger. When showing Emma and a few peers the different typeface options, this typeface received most votes, this was also one of my favourites out of the bunch. It was agreed that this one was most striking and interesting font options which is important for the branding and towards the aims of this project.

Furthermore, I brainstormed some ideas for the name of this organisation. However, the name 'The Panda Project' was still found to be the most impactful, it clearly states what the organisation and charity is about, the alliteration of the two P's also makes it more memorable. The word 'project' is relevant as the aim of the organisation is to provide a positive future for Panda's.
