Colour Palette

Next week I want to get started on the actual designs for the Panda project through following my research and knowledge on Pandas and their vulnerability and my research into animal campaigns which I will continue with as well.

The Panda project aims to make people aware that pandas are still as risk of becoming endangered again and how we need to prevent this from happening through raising money for panda charities and adopting wild pandas. The campaign will consist of a publication, t-shirts, advertising and additional merchandise so branding is required.

I have now created a colour palette for the campaign which is inspired by pandas. Black and white will be used throughout the branding for block type, symbols and the logo as this relates to the pandas fur. The other colours that will be throughout are green, pink and yellow.

  • Green= Bamboo (the only thing that pandas eat, they need bamboo to survive)
  • Pink= New born baby pandas are a baby pink shade before they start to grow their fur. The pandas skin is always pink underneath
  • Yellow= Inspired by the China flag (pandas are Chinas national animal, it is where they come from). The gold stars in the flag represent Communism as well as China's social classes
I used Pantone when deciding on the specific shades of green, pink and yellow to use. My aim for the colour palette was to be bold and contemporary as this is most engaging which is important in order to raise awareness for pandas.
