Today I had my second tutorial with Dom in which we went through my essay in more depth. I got some helpful feedback on what I need to elaborate on and discuss moving forward, along with sections that need cutting down.
Notes/discussion:
- Contact studios and designers about their research approaches- the people I contacted for PPP might be useful, creatives in different countries, designers that have international clients. Include these interviews in the importance of research part and other areas where relevant throughout
- Cut the eating section, too descriptive
- Continue writing more about identity and cultural appropriation- this is more interesting and relevant
- Include more theories to back up points, ones that I can mention at the start and revert back to
- Research importance- elaborate on this
- Refer back to question throughout essay
- Impact of the design process on designing something appropriate, are there any other areas other than research?
- Could even include a debate within the essay...sometimes things are culturally appropriate for a different culture but not appropriate for another culture because of the different audiences
- Evidence the design process and importance of research within my practical- maybe a booklet 'how to approach a brief to be culturally appropriate' I love this idea and think it could work really well, designed in the same layout as a brand guideline booklet almost.
