Practical Group Crits

Today we had peer lead crits for COP in group of around 8, the crit was useful but I do think the groups could have been smaller as people would have I think people would have chatted more.

I discussed the change from Sans Serif typeface to Serif typeface and one of comments mentioned that maybe I could look into the more beautiful looking Indian typefaces. However, I didn't find this comment useful as it goes against the whole point of the re-brand; to be more culturally sensitive by being less stereotypical and obvious to that culture.

Leading on from this comment, someone mentioned that I could use the shapes and curves from traditional Hindi typefaces to create patterns to use within the designs- similar to a workshop that we did with Nick a couple weeks back on letter forms- I found this feedback a lot more relevant.

I also mentioned that this morning I'd hit a bit of a creative block with the packaging designs as I had too much going on in my head and couldn't figure out what to do, I explained the booklet that will go alongside my practical work on 'How to create culturally sensitive design' and how the MDH Spices re-brand would be shown within the booklet through following the rules. Peers mentioned that I should do the booklet first, I found this piece of advice most useful.

I felt that the peer crit was useful as it helped me get out of my creative slump in terms of figuring out what I should do next: continue with the booklet first and then apply the rules to the actual packaging/re-brand as this will help me actually develop the designs successfully.
