Evaluation

Overall, this brief was really fun mainly due to the fact that this client brief was print based which is what my design practice mainly focuses is on, especially packaging which is something that I have done in the past and really enjoyed.

This project was also successful because of the communication with the client. The project was able to run smoothly and within the deadline as the communication via email was consistent without any major problems. Phone calls were arranged prior to starting any design work which was very useful in acknowledging exactly what the client wanted me to create and what the designs should communicate, after this the communication was via email. The client also had the same deadline for which they wanted the designs finished which was convenient as it meant that it was finished a few weeks before the deadline for COP.

I felt that the final designs for the 3 recipe kit boxes were interesting and exciting, meaning that they would definitely stand out in stores and at their stall in London. Printing out physical mockups before finalising the designs and sending them over also meant that I was able to get peer feedback on areas that needed approving and get opinions on whether they were to a good standard before sending them to the client.

The total time that was taken on this project was 15 hours, meaning the total of the project was £120 (£8 an hour). I requested a deposit of 4 hours worth of work prior to starting the designs (£32) so the remainder left to pay is £88. I also mentioned in the contract that additional changes after finishing the project would come at an extra cost, which would be £10 per hour, this was mentioned in the invoice. Furthermore, usually and in the future I would charge slightly more but since Bourbon Streat is only a smaller start up brand I decided to stick to £8 an hour.
