Adding Pattern/Texture

I have started to add pattern and texture into the backgrounds of the recipe kit designs as Shana requested, she sent over a reference image of the type of pattern she'd like.

However, when first looking at the pattern I knew that because of the busyness and several colours within the pattern that it'd clash with the information and colours already on the front of the designs. I still tried out a similar pattern in different compositions and scale and also gathered some research on the designer Tyler Spangler as his use of textured and shape backgrounds within his work is really effective, especially when he uses it behind bold type and image.

The pattern Shana sent:

The designs with the pattern similar to the one Shana sent did end up looking too busy and clashed with the rest of the information like I thought it would. So I decided to quickly test out some more simple patterns/shapes added into the background, using just one additional colour for the background.

I think these designs look a lot better than the pattern designs, particularly the second design using a wave vector that I created in large scale. Less was more in this case.

Waves 2

I have sent over all of these designs to Shana so she can decide what designs she likes the most and would like me to develop and apply to all of the recipe kits. Hopefully she agrees that the more simple designs work better. When asking peers which they preferred, they also agreed that the simple large scale wave design was the best.
