When discussing poster designs with Clare a couple weeks back, we mentioned that the two posters in the lookbook should both be quite different; one should focus on illustration and one should focus on the photographs OR one of them could be a combination of both illustration and photograph.
I went with the idea as keeping one illustration based and the other one more photograph based. The look pages focus on combining illustration and photograph together so I felt it would be more interesting if the posters didn't do this, in order to create contrast.
When creating the posters, I looked back at early research I did (see blog post 'Layout Research) as well as gathering some further inspiration from nostalgic Bratz posters:
For the backgrounds of the posters, I decided to use sparkly, girly textured and patterned backgrounds which I felt related to the glitz and glamour of Bratz outfits, as well as backgrounds that I felt had a 2000's nostalgic theme to them (relating to the Bratz era). Below shows a mood board of images I collected and edited that could be used within the backgrounds.
Poster developments:
Below shows the 2 posters developed further.
Poster 1 purely focuses on the illustrations, showing 4 of the different looks on each doll as a group of friends together; the Bratz. Showing the 4 together as illustrations looks more effective as a poster than combining them with the photographs.
Poster 2 uses the photographs of the Bratz. This poster takes its references from an old Bratz poster in order to create nostalgia using the circles detailing as well as additional details such as the Bratz logo and each Bratz personal icon.
