Below shows different initial developments of how this additional text could be shown, in terms of colours, shapes and composition.
I asked peers for feedback on which text compositions and colours they thought worked best and how the cover could be developed further. I wasn't happy with how the text was looking as it just looked very basic and like something was missing from it.
Peers comments:
- The colour of the additional text could be changed from white to one of the other brighter colours in the cover
- The bottom text with the strip behind looks better rather than without
- The bottom right corner looks like it's missing something
Following this feedback I have now finished the cover design. The additional two advertising texts were given an embossed effect which was inspired by the Bratz logo as it also has an embossed 3D effect, this creates consistency and gives the additional text a more Bratzy aesthetic, the same as the logo. The colours used take their references from the circles which use the Bratz images in them.
One of the peer comments mentioned that the bottom right corner look a like it was missing something, which I definitely agreed with. I have added illustrations of the 4 Bratz together into this corner, these illustrations show the same Bratz looks that are shown on the within the photographic imagery used- creating a clear link between the photographs and illustrations on the cover despite the contrast. An overall busier aesthetic looks a lot more interesting for the cover.
