Secret 7- Track Decisions

This year I have decided to take part in the Secret 7 competition. Secret 7” takes 7 tracks from 7 of the best-known musicians around and presses each one 100 times to 7” vinyl: 'We then openly invite you to create artwork for the 7 tracks'- Secret 7

The result is 700 unique records which are exhibited in London before being sold on a first come, first served basis. However, buyers don’t know who created the artwork or even which song it’s for, until they have parted with their cash. All of the proceeds for this years Secret 7 will be donated to Help Refugees.

Deadline: 10th March 2020

This years 7 tracks:

Aretha Franklin - One Step Ahead
Bob Dylan - Blind Willie McTell
Foo Fighters - This Is A Call
The Internet - Come Over
Koffee - Toast
Miles Davis - Miles Runs The Voodoo Down
Vampire Weekend - Harmony Hall

The 2 tracks that stood out to me instantly were Toast by Koffee and Come Over by The Internet as I love both of these songs. I have also seen The Internet live and have videos from the performance which could be used as research if I decided to go with this one.

For whichever track I choose, I will create 2-3 different designs for the submission which each follow a different concept (You can submit a sleeve design for as many of our tracks as you like, and more than one design for each track- Secret 7 guidelines)

I'm really excited to start this project as I love music and the whole concept of the Secret 7 competition. I also think it's important to create work that goes towards a good cause.

Track option 1- Come Over

Track option 2- Toast

I will sit and listen to the tracks a few times before deciding on which one to go with as well as gathering some further research into the meanings, lyrics and artists of each track to help me decide.
