I also showed the 3 developed covers to my peers before developing the backgrounds, feedback also suggested to combine the two ideas together (digital collage and wavy pattern backgrounds). Feedback also suggested that the digital collage designs looked really cool as they are but just that the first one (stage 1) needs a little more work which I agree with, the other two are strong and interesting enough in terms of the imagery used.
For the backgrounds I experimented with repeating the digital collage on the cover as a background image in different colours and opacities, adding text/lyrics relating to the stage of the song that the design communicates into the background, pastel colour backgrounds and wave pattern backgrounds

Out of the ideas experiments above, I felt that the solid colour background worked best so I decided to add colour into the other two cover designs. The colours that I used went from blue to purple to pink which communicates the idea of the different stages of the song which start off as meeting up with the person late at night to seeing them in the early morning/later that night, through to the next day waking up together.
I then experimented with the idea of wavy psychedelic pattern backgrounds- this relates to the funky, smooth tempo and beat of the track whilst also representing the romantic setting. The patterns also follow the idea of the journey from the night to the morning from stage 1 to stage 3 through the use of colour transitions and the waves getting more detailed or smoother relating to the concept/stage that the cover represents.
I will show the solid colour background designs and the wave pattern designs to peers in order to develop one of the ideas further as I'm not sure which I prefer yet: I feel like the wavy backgrounds are interesting but maybe clash with the digital collages on top, but the solid backgrounds may be too simple.
