Further Visual Research and Development

I have now developed the collage designs for each of the 3 covers further though adding more detailing and imagery as well as gathering research into the artists Narcsville (Nick Scott) and Luke Robson.

Narcsville was recommended to me when showing peers the digital collages that I had created whilst developing them, he specialises in vinyl cover design which consist of various different techniques including digital and handmade collage, mark making, painting, screen print and more. I found his collage work particularly interesting because of the different aesthetics that he combines which create an obvious, yet clean contrast.

When researching further into collage artists, I instantly fell in love with the work of Luke Robson. Luke is a UK based digital collage artist creating vibrant and surrealistic collages using Photoshop, he describes his work as a retro future filled with stars, cosmic rays and space helmets, plus a healthy dose of bizarrely juxtaposed imagery and the odd planet or two.

The magical, surreal aesthetic and imagery used within his designs is relevant towards my approach to the 3 covers of that I am creating for the track Come Over; an initial idea was to use imagery that communicated magic and romance as it is relevant to the vibe of the song as well as the music video.

Peer feedback suggested that the pattern backgrounds worked better than the solid colour ones, however I'm still not sure on these particular patterns, I'm thinking of creating some hand made pattern textures to use instead which may fit the collaged, experimental aesthetic better. The collages were developed further through adding more obscure imagery and smaller details in areas which looked emptier, the designs definitely look better with more of this.
