Cohorted Placement Update- Ignored

Towards the end of last term I'd taken some time off (couple weeks) from my Placement at Cohorted so I could focus on finishing COP, I'd mentioned this to my manager which he was completely fine with and mentioned to give him a ring when I'd be back after Christmas and I could start back as normal.

However, since being back I have contacted him several times throughout the past month and have received delayed or no response to my emails, texts and calls. This was very frustrating to start with as my manager had mentioned that I had the opportunity to work there permanently after graduation and I would start getting paid- this is the main reason I held on to this opportunity and worked unpaid. I have now started to apply to other jobs and opportunities and am seeing this experience as a learning process and will not be working for anyone unpaid again- I will value my work and talents a lot more.

Today I also spoke with Alec in which he mentioned that in situations like this/unpaid work experiences around 85% of managers will give empty promises that they have no interest in fulfilling, just to keep the interns there. Alec also mentioned I have to option to just turn up at the studio- however I mentioned that I don't feel like it's worth it anymore as I've tried contacting in several different ways and I feel that I am not valued there anymore.

Speaking with Alec about this situation was really helpful and I have now written an email to my former manager asking him for a reference for jobs and opportunities that I am applying to.
