Print Workshop

Today we had a print workshop with Nick in which we created prints using shapes which took their references from 3 different typefaces: Cooper black, Baskerville and Grotesk. To create the prints, we focused on selective areas of letters from each typeface to create shapes from.

We created stencils of the shapes which we were then able to print with using a roller and black ink onto paper. I chose to use a different coloured sheet for each print as each typeface has a different personality and look.

Baskerville:

Cooper Black:

Grotesk:

My favourite out of the 3 was the Cooper Black print. The texture that I added to some of the shapes look really interesting and I like the way the print looks sort of like a journey/steps going towards somewhere, even though I hadn't planned for it to.

I found the overall workshop really fun as its different to things we usually do and I prefer to work more hands on and production based in my design practice, so this very me. I also found it very therapeutic and relaxing.
