Panda Brief- Discussion with Emma

Panda project- Why and aims? Making sure they don't become endangered again, as I feel very passionately about them and feel that they have an importance on the world.

For this brief, I will be collaborating with printed textiles student Emma Shakeshaft. This evening I had a discussion with her about how we could approach the topic and possible design outcomes that we will create together. Our ideas right now are based on communicating the brief through a publication and additional material such as posters which will also include the prints.

  • Textural pieces, mark making within the prints
  • The book could be made and printed on fabric
  • Textured pages throughout the book
  • The outside of the book could be made out of fabric (hard back covered in fabric, screen printed or digitally fabric printed)
  • The book fabric could have the matte black foiling on

The design outcomes and message communicated by splitting the topic/publication into 3 different sections, the prints will be created inspired by each section using relevant imagery, fabric, texture and patterns.

1. The pandas home- prints based on where the panda comes from and lives, bamboo, greenery etc
2. The pandas family- mummy and baby represented through the print
3. The importance of the panda- what pandas bring to the world
