Contract with Bourbon Streat

The co-founder from Bourbon Streat (Shana) has now sent over the full brief, specifications and deadlines for the design of their new recipe-kits, Helena and Amber mentioned that a good way to ask about pay is to ask what their budget is. When I asked what the budget was, she replied back asking how much something like this would usually cost- as I have only started to do client work this year and am still a student, I am sticking to charging £8 an hour.

Email back from Shana stating the brief, specifications, deadlines and budget

My response to the email above from Shana.

When doing client work, it is important to set a contract agreement with the client in order to make sure you definitely get paid and don't get used as a designer. I contacted a family friend designer that I have done work for in the past about what needs to be included in a design contract as I knew she'd have some tips.

This weekend, I have spent time creating and finalising a contract agreement- this contract can be tweaked for future client work. I spent time thinking about how long I think something like this would roughly take because of deadlines and gave an estimate price according to the hours, it was also important to mention that additional changes would cost more.

I have sent Shana the contract agreement which she has signed this morning, I will be ringing her at 3:30 today to go over some information and ideas. I'm really excited to get started with the designs.
