Development and Issues

Today I had a chat with Mike about wanting to have curved edges for the cards as there is a tool in the print room which allows you to do this. I mentioned whether I should get rid of the borders on the cards as they may not aline with the edges on the cutter and he mentioned that this would probably be an issue and it would be better to use solid colour backgrounds.

I then printed off mockups of the cards with different weight borders compared to solid colour backgrounds; the colour backgrounds looked a lot better. I also realised that the body text was too big so i made it a bit smaller.

I have also developed ideas for the illustrations that will go on the back of the cards using a collage technique, this relates to childhood as it has a more playful aesthetic than using the simpler illustrations.

Peer feedback suggested that the collages were more interesting than the simple illustrations so I'll be developing the collages further for the rest of the cards.

Below shows initial developments for the third week card- every third week the user gets to write their own task which makes the challenge more personal and relates to the fact that everyone had different hobbies as children:
