Before going straight into designing the covers for the CD and vinyl I have sketched and noted some initial ideas for the designs and how the album, individual tracks and moods could be represented successfully:
- Different mix and match designs for the designs for CD and vinyl- don't do them exactly the same or for example for the Vinyl use the design for the CD but a section of it enlarged or repeated, shows variation and makes the two more exciting
- Only do vinyl design but for 3 of my favourite singles off the album: Love Galore, The Weekend and Broken Clocks
- For the front and back of the CD use two different photographs from the same SZA photoshoot, play with scale and composition for both sides
- Contrast; the cover could be purely image based with the CD label purely type based through using lyrics? or the other way round
- For the actual vinyl disc, do it in a colour from the image used on the covers
- Abstract approach; listen to the full album and draw shapes/lines to match the mood and vibe, do it for every song and them combine the patterns?
- Collaged imagery inspired by each song, represents that album as a whole
